ITALIAN AEROSOL SOCIETY

WHO WE ARE The Society is aimed at researchers, professionals and students with a common interest in the study of atmospheric aerosols, and who, through the exchange of information and experience associated with it, contribute to the understanding of its scientific, health and environmental (and therefore also economic and social) implications.
ACTIVITY CONFERENCES

The IAS organizes, every two years, the National Conference on Atmospheric Particulate Matter, which has officially become the association’s congress since the year 2008, with the aim of fostering the exchange of experiences within the scientific community on the topics related to atmospheric particulate matter. The last edition of PM2024 was in Turin (Italy), May 28-31 2024.

As a member of the European Aerosol Assembly (EAA) and the International Aerosol Research Assembly (IARA), it also participates in the organization of European (EAC) and international (IAC) conferences on atmospheric aerosol.

The 2015 European Aerosol Conference (EAC 2015), was held, for the first time, in the city of Milan (Italy), from September 6th to 11th 2015, under the umbrella of the IAS, that celebrated the 8th anniversary of its foundation and the 7th year of membership in the European Aerosol Assembly.

WORKSHOPS/SUMMER/WINTER SCHOOLS

Students and researchers in the early stages of their careers working in the field of atmospheric aerosols can attend to high-specialized winter and summer school.

Also, periodic workshops and seminars on various topics are organized, involving speakers from Italy and abroad.

DISSEMINATION

Releases and “video pills” on the association’s social media channels is an essential part of IAS activity.

WORKING GROUPS
Scientific work within the IAS is organized in four Working Groups:

WG1: Aerosol generation sources and processes

WG2: Sampling techniques and analysis of PMx and air quality

WG3: Atmospheric aerosol properties, processes and transformations in the atmosphere

WG4: Aerosol in polar and remote areas

IAS AWARDS The IAS Awards are given to young members of the Association who have made significant contributions to the advancement of aerosol science during their Ph.D. and Master’s Thesis.
